Problem worth solving

The greatest obstacle facing women recovering from addiction is the lack of gender-specific programs and housing. Traditional sober living facilities and treatment centers are designed primarily for male patients, focusing on their needs and experiences. For women, the path to sobriety is different and requires specialized support in a single-sex community. At LIGHT OF HOPE Mississippi Inc., we provide transitional housing exclusively for women to give them a solid foundation for long-term recovery in a nurturing environment. Substance abuse takes an immense physical, emotional and financial toll on women. Many come to our program with health issues, PTSD, legal troubles, damaged relationships and no source of income. They need intensive case management, medical care, counseling, job training and parenting education to heal and rebuild their lives. Our staff are experts in women’s issues and equipped to address their unique challenges. Within a collaborative community of shared experiences, our residents forge new friendships, find mentors and role models, and gain the courage and confidence to start their recovery. At LIGHT OF HOPE Mississippi Inc., we believe that long-term sobriety comes not just from abstaining from drugs and alcohol but from developing a strong, independent and purpose-filled life. Our program emphasizes personal growth, empowerment and self-sufficiency to ensure that each women achieves her full potential. With life skills training, spiritual development and goal-setting guidance, we strive to transform women into leaders. Although staying clean and sober is a lifelong struggle, every woman who leaves our program does so with an unshakable foundation for a better life.

Our Solution

To support our clients in their journey to recovery, Light of Hope Mississippi Inc. is dedicated to offering essential services that include transportation assistance and coordination of 12-step meetings and recovery events. We also prioritize accountability and sobriety by implementing random drug testing measures. We understand that transportation can be a significant obstacle for individuals in the early stages of recovery, hindering their ability to build a strong support network through regular meeting attendance and participation in recovery-related events.  Additionally, we are working on restoring a bus for transportation services that would  enable our residents to attend 3-4 meetings each week, as well as engage in workshops and social gatherings that contribute to their personal growth and well-being. We firmly believe that consistent participation in 12-step meetings, along with the support of a sponsor and accountability partners, is crucial for long-term success in recovery. To further support our clients on their journey to sobriety, Light of Hope will implement random drug testing throughout their stay in our program. This involves conducting urine tests for drugs at random intervals, as mandated by the court. Should any positive test results arise, we promptly address them by following our relapse prevention and response procedures. By emphasizing accountability and early detection of potential relapses, our comprehensive drug testing protocol serves as a crucial tool in promoting long-term recovery and overall success. Through the provision of transportation services, facilitation of meeting attendance, and the implementation of random drug testing, Light of Hope Mississippi Inc. offers a comprehensive and supportive solution that fosters accountability, community support, and a sense of security for women in early recovery. Our objective is to equip our clients with the necessary tools and resources to not only thrive during their time in our program but also to build a fulfilling life of sobriety beyond their stay with us.
